Note to Congregation: To All Nations

Dear Church Family,

We have been examining Jesus’ vision for the church found in the Great Commission. Today we are focusing on the command to go to all nations!

“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.Go thereforeand make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV emphasis mine)

Jesus has called us to share our faith with those who do not know Jesus. Not only are we to tell our family, our friends, our coworkers, and our neighbors about Jesus, but we are also to go to all the nations of the earth! I don’t know about you, but when I first read this command, I wondered how I am supposed to tell all the nations about Jesus!

Well, this Great Commission was given to all the apostles, and to the church as a whole. All God’s people everywhere share this responsibility. Some of us may be called to go to another nation to share the gospel, but others of us participate by giving to and praying for our missionaries. As you may know, we have a Missions Committee here at FPC. These dedicated volunteers are working to help connect us with missionaries who will tell others about Jesus in Word and in deed. Let’s commit to pray for our missionaries and our mission committee, and let’s consider how we may further financially support our missionaries. May Christ continue to grow His church!

Pastor Joshua
